01What changed?
Sites for two years; AI Overviews and AI Mode could only predict how much they were seen with third party tools or observe manually controls. Google now offers this visibility in a separate report with its official data.
The new report covers two main surfaces:
- Search (Search): views in AI Overviews and AI Mode
- Discover: Displays in the features of productive artificial intelligence in the Discover stream
This data is also included in the General Performance Report on Search Console, meaning the total visibility chart of your site is now updated to cover the AI surfaces.
02What data does the report show?
03What does the report show?
AEO/GEO strategy is critical to knowing these limits:
- Clicking data — You are currently seeing how many people come from AI response to your site.
- CTR — cannot calculate click rate per impression.
- Query (query) data — You see which search query carries you to AI Overviews.
- Give History Home — The report covers only after 18 May 2026.
Google has indicated that it plans to add additional metrics (especially click data) over time but did not give a clear date.
04Who can access?
Broadcast is gradually moving: the report has been opened to a limited group of sites before, 23 September June 2026Access was expanded. There wasn’t yet a certain date shared for global and fully comprehensive publication. If you don’t see this report on your Search Console account yet, this is normal — opening in order.
05AI content blocking option
Google also offers site owners a check that their content can be shown and shown in the features of productive AI. This stands out as a response of increased voltage with the beginning of limiting AI boots through robots.txt of some publishers since the end of 2025.
With classic organic SEO performance, performance on AI search surfaces can now be measured separately.
06What is the difference between SEO and GEO/AEO?
The same content can serve two different targets. We can summarize the basic differences between:
| Criteria | Traditional SEO | AEO |
|---|---|---|
| Home | Top ranked in organic results | Be a reference to AI Overviews/AI Mode answer |
| Measurement Unit Home | Rank, click, CTR | AI display (nowness), pulse frequency |
| Content format | Keyword-oriented, long content | Net definition, direct response, structured headers |
| Success signal | Backlink, page authority | Meaning clarity, welding reliability, structured Home |
| Car Rental | Search Console Performance Report u | Search Console AI Performance Report u |
07What does GEO and AEO mean for your strategy?
The first steps we recommend to our customers as dgtl Agence are:
- Configure your content directly to respond. AI Overviews and AI Mode prefers clear definitions, step-by-step lists and abstractable paragraphs.
- Monitor page-based visibility. When the report is opened, see what pages stand out on the AI surfaces and apply this format to other pages.
- Use country break. Detect and prioritize content in countries where your AI visibility is weak in multi-market sites.
- Use full marking (schema.org). Article and FAQPage structured data make it easier for AI engines to read your content in the right context.
- Be patient until the click data comes. Currently there is only screening data; do ROI calculations considering this limitation.
- Strategicize AI content blocking decision. Although hides your content from AI surfaces in the short run, it may mean waiver of brand visibility.
